Council of Europe will investigate the death of president Trajkovski
Initiative of a Swiss member of parliament
Swiss politician and former vice-president of the Parliamentary assembly of the Council of Europe Andreas Gross asked the Council to investigate the mysterious plane crash which killed president Boris Trajkovski in 2004.
According to the Swiss newspaper NZZ, it's suspicious how Trajkovski's heir, then prime-minister Branko Crvenkovski, managed to get the word out so quickly that everyone on the plane was killed. Crvenkovski was in Ireland at the time of the crash, meeting Irish prime-minister Bertie Ahern, who announced the news about the death of the Macedonian president, two hours after the accident.
After contact broke with the plane of pres. Trajkovski, it could be speculated that the plane has crashed. But, it's an open question how could Crvenkovski have known that none of the nine people on the plane survived the accident - asks the newspaper NZZ.
According to the paper, it's also suspicious why was national mourning announced so soon, before the National Security Council could meet, and before the wreckage was found.
It's utterly incomprehensible why the bodies were found burnt away from the wreckage. There is no answer on the role of the SFOR, which was first at the site of the crash, and which strictly forbid the local police force to come closes - asks the Swiss paper.
The text goes on to say that Macedonian authorities have shown incomprehensible lack of interest in the death of president Trajkovski.
